Dream Placement Programme

Dream placement is a scheme ran by Centre for Leadership Performance for 16-18-year-old school and college pupils. It gives students an insight into the world of work by matching them with a Cumbrian “Host” employer.

Responsive Ltd have now been involved in Dream Placement as a host company for a couple of years. We enjoy partaking in Dream placement because it is not just a simple, straight forward work-experience scheme, it really challenges the students to be the best that they can be. Dream placement is an opportunity for us as a business to engage with local talented young people who could potentially become part of our team in the future!

The Dream placement scheme consists of multiple activity days that involve all students and companies which really gives a chance for everybody to get to know each other. There is then a “selection day” which occurs after businesses have received CV’s of all the applicants anonymously and have chosen around 10 that they would like to interview. Centre for leadership then allocate each business 6 people to interview and try their hardest to get students and companies in appropriate pairs for this. On the selection day morning there is then several activities in which businesses can get to know students and have the chance to give out a “Wild Card” which is a slot to interview during that afternoon. So, in whole as a business you interview seven students and one or two of these students will end up getting the placement.

The students spend a week at Responsive during February Half Term, during this time they take part in numerous different activities with our staff as well as completing a “project” to showcase at the end of the scheme.
